Sacramento Just Got a Brand-New Residence Inn — And Yes, There's a Putting Green

Sacramento's extended-stay scene just leveled up. The brand-new Residence Inn by Marriott Sacramento Arden has officially opened its doors, and it's already making a strong case for being the most thoughtful extended-stay in the region. Five stories, modern build, and a location that somehow nails the "quiet but not too quiet" sweet spot every business traveler secretly wants.

Location: The Goldilocks Zone

This is the part that's hard to fake. The new property sits in a fresh mixed-use development surrounded by apartments — meaning you're in a real neighborhood, not a parking-lot purgatory next to a freeway off-ramp. You're a quick hop from Arden Fair Mall for everything from groceries to Apple Store emergencies, and downtown Sacramento is a short Uber away when you want to actually do something.

Translation: you get the calm of suburbia (sleep, parking, trees) with the convenience of the urban core (food, nightlife, the Kings game). The site itself? Used to be an older Radisson — completely torn down and rebuilt from scratch. So none of that "renovated in 2003" energy you sometimes get with extended-stays.

The Putting Green Situation

Here's the feature you don't see at most Residence Inns: a legit outdoor putting green right next to the pool. Not a novelty rug. An actual contoured green where you can sneak in a few putts between meetings and pretend you're "working on your short game" instead of avoiding emails.

Pair it with the standard Residence Inn outdoor pool, umbrella-lined deck, and grilling area, and you've got a genuinely nice place to decompress after a 10-hour day of pretending to pay attention on Zoom.

Where It Fits in Sacramento's Residence Inn Lineup

For the brand nerds keeping score, Sacramento now has three Residence Inn properties, each with its own personality:

  • Residence Inn Sacramento Downtown at Capitol Park — perfect if you need to be steps from the Capitol and don't mind paying downtown rates.
  • Residence Inn Sacramento Airport Natomas — the OG, the oldest of the three, great for early flights and Sleep Train Arena adjacency.
  • Residence Inn Sacramento Arden — the new kid (this one), splitting the difference on price, quiet, and access.

There's also chatter about a fourth Residence Inn coming to North Natomas, though that one's still in early discussion. And don't forget the wider region: there's an older Residence Inn in Rancho Cordova and a newer one in Davis if your assignment pulls you east or west.

What to Expect Inside

All the Residence Inn hits are here: full kitchens in every suite (stove, full fridge, dishwasher, the works), free hot breakfast every morning, free Wi-Fi that actually works, free on-site laundry, a 24-hour fitness center, and pet-friendly rooms because of course.

The suites lean into the "this is basically an apartment" energy that makes Residence Inn the go-to for travel nurses, relocations, and anyone whose project just got extended "another two weeks" for the third time. Studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms are all available — pick based on how much you value a door between you and your laptop.

Why This Matters

Sacramento's extended-stay market has been overdue for new inventory. The city has been absorbing tech workers, state contractors, traveling medical staff, and a growing film/production scene — and the existing extended-stay properties have been quietly filling up. A brand-new build with modern rooms, a thoughtful location, and a feature set that goes a step beyond the brand standard? That's a real upgrade for anyone landing in Sacramento for more than a long weekend.

For us, it's a clear win: more new properties means more leverage at the negotiation table. Which means better rates for you.
